Adverse Weather Procedures

Closure Before the School Day Begins

In the event that the school is required to close before the start of the school day, we will make every effort to give families as much notice as possible. Any decision to close will be taken with the safety of pupils, families and staff as the highest priority.

Before reaching a decision, I will consider a range of information sources, including consultation with transport providers and bus companies, discussions with Head Teachers from neighbouring schools, staff availability, and current weather reports and forecasts.

If the school is required to close, families will be informed using the following channels:

• Social media – via the school Facebook page
  
  

• Email and text message – using the Groupcall system
  
  

• Aberdeenshire Council website – school closure information is published at:

Closure During the School Day

On rare occasions, it may be necessary to close the school during the school day. This could occur, for example, in the event of severe weather, significant heating failure, flooding, or other unforeseen circumstances that affect the safe operation of the school.

Should this be required, parents and carers will be contacted as promptly as possible using the same communication methods outlined above, and arrangements will be made to ensure children are released safely.
